Paradox Lost

Paradox Lost is a body of work that will consist of a series of hand-made toys ostensibly found upon Jewel Island in Maine's Casco Bay. The toys, of a slightly 'disturbed' or psychologically complicated nature and intent, will be "found" in weathered packing crates and steamer trunks deep in a tunnel on the island which, though currently uninhabited, was a heavily fortified military base during WWII. The historical maker of the toys, as it pertains to the narrative I am fabricating, will be uncertain, or unstated. However, the viewers of the works when they are displayed will be invited to deduce for themselves the nature of their originator and his/her intentions. This work is scheduled for a June 2010 opening at the Whitney Art Works in Portland, Maine.
