NuPenny

2010
NuPenny is an installation that will appear as a complete toy store and will begin its tour as an installation in a series of vacant storefronts in three small towns (4 months apiece) across the state of Maine starting in January of 2010. The contents of the store will consist of my fabricated toys, each of which will be inspired by, or interpretations of 20th century American poems, song lyrics, and literary works. Also included in the store will be the requisite store components such as cash register, signage, shelves, clock etc., and all of the above – toys and set pieces – will be rendered in photographic gray scale. Although this work has been in process since 2004, a recent "Public Sculpture Grant" from the estate of Harry S. Faust – via the Maine Arts Commission - made the completion of the work possible.
